Week five !
Hey guys here's blog week five! This week was super chill and I didn't do much outside of classes. I did start the official spring semester on Monday so that was exciting. I am taking five classes: History of Spain, History of Art In Spain, Flamenco, Speaking and Writing, and Grammar. So far so good with my classes, they are all in spanish and they are super interesting so I am excited for the rest of the semester. My teachers are all super nice and so far I am loving the class content, it's a nice break from all the STEM classes at OSU. I also only have class Monday through Thursday which will be super nice for traveling. Nothing else too crazy at school this week, it was a nice slow start to get to know the schedule and how it's all gonna work. On Tuesday I went to watch the sunset and go on a walk and that was pretty nice. On Wednesday we had a volleyball game with the program which was super fun. There are 16 new people and that was our first time all meeting, I'm excited to get to know them more and make some more friends! On Thursday I went with cobb and anda and brenna to get tapas at this one place and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken shawarma is probably my favorite tapa I've had to far. Friday was pretty chill, I didn't have school so I slept in and then worked on my scrapbook and then in the evening I went on a long walk and ended the night with some churros and chocolate. It was my first time having churros and chocolate and it was pretty good. Oh also Granada was hosting the Goya awards this past Saturday, which are like the Spanish Oscars, and I saw a red carpet for that on my walk so that was pretty cool. Saturday was a fun day, I woke up kinda early to get ready and then I took the train to a nearby town called Antequera. It was really small but fun to explore for the day. First I got some breakfast at a little cafe on the square and it was delicious. Then I saw the dólmenes, which are man-made tombs from around 2500 BC and apparently the one I saw was the largest in the world, so that was cool. After that I walked to the Alcabaz de Antequera which was like a little fortress at the top of the city with a really beautiful church on the side. I stayed there for awhile walking around and looking at the city, it felt like I was the only one there. There was also a beautiful lookout up there. After that I grabbed some delicious lunch and then walked around for awhile before going back to the lookout for the sunset. After some more walking and exploring I got back on the train and come home and that was the end of my solo adventure day. I don't think I need to go back to Antequera but it was a fun journey to go on for the day. That's pretty much my whole week, not too much happening but I'm still having a lot of fun! Miss you guys!!
