week fourteen!

Woohoooo week fourteen!! This week was pretty epic. School was good, nothing too crazy there this week. Just normal classes and that's all. I am getting very sad to leave, I love my classes and my teachers so much and I wanna stay here forever. On Monday, I came home, had some lunch and then ofc I had my siesta. I think Mondays are my most chill days cause that's usually the only day I really take a nap. Later that afternoon I met up with my friends and we went to a lookout in the Albaicin where we scrapbooked and read and laughed and talked. It was so much fun, and it was a beautiful new lookout I hadn't been to yet. Then on Tuesday, I met up with Abby, Anda and Brenna to hammer down some details for our epic semana santa trip. Later that night, we all met up at the apartments where some other people from out program live and we had an ice cream party. It was so much fun. I don't get to see some of them that much so it was so much fun to all hangout and catch up. We got all different kinds of toppings and then sat out on their balcony and ate ice cream. It was awesome. The next day I stopped by the AIFS office after school, then ate lunch at home and then went to go meet up with AIFS for an activity. First my friends and I stopped by a little artesanial market that was going on in a plaza near my apartment and they had so many cool things. After meeting up with Alberto and the rest of the people coming to the activity, we walked to a artesian school where we did some awesome typical Granadian crafts. The first one we did was a wood-decorated tile and the second was a ceramic tile which we carved and designed ourselves. It was so much fun to learn about the crafts and also at the same time get to make them. After the workshop, I went straight home to pack up my bags for our epic semana santa trip. The next day, I met up with Abby, Anda and Brenna at the bus station and we set off for Prague. Once we landed, we hopped on the metro and went to our AirBnB. After checking in there, we went to the store to get some food to cook throughout the few days we were gonna be there. We cooked some amazing meals throughout the week, it was so fun to cook and all eat together, That fist night in Prague we had some tacos that were delicious, even though I accidentally bought pork meat instead of beef. After dinner, we called it a night to get ready for an awesome day. On Friday we got up and headed off to see some awesome things. First we went into Prague Castle which was really beautiful. Then we went into St. Vitus cathedral, which was also super beautiful. The outside had an amazing tile decoration and then the inside had gorgeous stain glass and statues. It was so cool. After that we went into St. George basilica which was also super beautiful, it was from 921 and is the oldest standing church in the prague castle complex. After that we walked down golden lane and saw some recreations of homes and businesses and what they would've looked like back when people were living there. The recreations were so cute. Also, those churches/castle/golden lane were all together on a hill so it was super easy to walk between them and see everything together. When we finished touring, we went over to a park overlooking the castle complex and had some yummy wraps for lunch that we had made that morning. After lunch we wandered over neat St Charles bridge, and after grabbing some delicious chimney cakes, we walked across the bridge and got to see all the beautiful statues and an amazing view of the city. We walked across the bridge, and then back to the other side and once we were back on the other side, we went to the narrowest street in Prague. It was so funny, they had a little traffic light. From there we wandered back stopping at a super cute bookstore and the John Lennon wall. We stopped at a cute restaurant and sat outside and enjoyed some beer. After the beers, we walked back across another bridge and towards the AirBnB, stopping at the store first. That night I made quesadillas, and not to toot my own horn, but they were SO good. After that amazing dinner we called it a night. The next day Saturday, we woke up and had some yummy eggs and yogurt before hitting the town. We started the day at old town square were we saw the astronomical clock and the Church of Our Lady before Tyn. Seeing the clock was so cool, we got to watch it go off at 11am and it was awesome to see how it worked. We didn't get to enter the church because they were getting ready for services but we peeked in and it was gorgeous. At the old town square, they were having one of the many Prague easter markets and that was so fun to see. I bought a super cute painted easter egg with the church and some flowers painted on. There were painted egg stands, jewelry stands, leather stands and much more. They even had green beer, which ofc I tried because it matched my sweater. After the old town square, we walked through the old jewish quarter of the city and then sat on a bench by the water for awhile. From there we walked to the dancing house which is just a cool piece of arquitecture near the river. On our walk we saw a Prague river rat swimming in the water. Just below the dancing house, on the river, is a super cool coffee shop/ bar that I had seen on Instagram with a crazu big circle door so we went to check it out. I got a beer lemonade, which was weird but actually very good. After we sat by the river for awhile with our drinks, we walked to another square in the middle of the city that happened to be under construction, so we didn't stay for long. Instead we went to an awesome place for lunch called Lokal where we tried Czech food. I got roasted chicken with mushrooms and potatoes and it was delicious. After lunch we rode the tram to the Franz Kafka head statue, and ofc we got ice cream on the way. The statue was so cool, we watched it move around for awhile. After that we went to see another statue of a man hanging from a pole above the street. From there we split up and I walked around for awhile down the old streets and eventually back to old town square where the easter market was having a bunch of traditional dance groups from different countries perform, so I watched that for awhile. From there I walked back down and across St Charles bridge and around that area before meeting up with my friends. They had ended up at the beer museum and were sitting outside with an amazing view of the sunset. So we sat and watched sunset and enjoyed looking at the city before taking the tram back home. That night for dinner I made chicken and rice bowls with avocado and lettuce and those were incredible. We had had a long day so after dinner we watched a movie and then went to bed. On Sunday I woke up early (I actually woke up at like 6:30-7:30 every morning on this trip) so I got up and headed out to get a coffee. I sat at a cute coffee shop and had a cappuccino and croissant before walking through old town square one more time on the way back to the AirBnb. Once I got back, we all headed off for the bus station where we got on out bus headed for Vienna! It was about 3 1/2 hours on the bus and it was actually kind of pretty, not just gross highways. Once we got to Vienna, we checked into the AirBnB, which had an amazing view of the city, but 138 stairs. We then ran to the store and got some things for dinners and lunches and breakfast and that night we had baked mac and cheese with lemon pepper chicken and a super yummy vinegar-lettuve-tomato-cucumber salad. We were all pretty tired so we called it a night after dinner. And that was all for that week but there's still so much more for semana santa so get ready for week fifteen. Miss you guys!
