week 17!

Woohooooo week seventeen!! This week was epic. Class was great, I only went twice this week, so I can't complain. On Monday, the craziest thing ever happened. During my second class of the day, all the power in the school went out. We thought it was just in the school or just for a second, but then we realized we all also lost phone service. After class, we found out that it was just the school, or just Granada, but that all of Spain, Portugal, and parts of southern France were also in a blackout. It was so crazy. I went to my last class of the day, and we wrote some paragraphs because that's all we could do without internet or electricity. After class, I went straight home and had some lunch with Begoña. I rested for a while and then did some work on my scrapbook, which was very relaxing. I didn't have any service to see if my friends were hanging out, so around 5:00, I went for a walk and some ice cream. I decided it would be good to get ice cream to help out the stores, cause I didn't want it all to melt. I got limon y fresa, and then I sat in the park, ate my ice cream, and read my book. It was super relaxing. There were a ton of people out and about in the streets and in the plazas, and it was so sweet. I stayed out for a while, walking around and enjoying the day until it started to get dark, then I headed back home. Begoña and I had an early dinner before the sun went down, so we could still see, and then we sat at the table and looked at the city as the sun went down. After the sunset, there wasn't much else I could do, so I used my iPad as a light and read my book until I was ready to go to sleep. I woke up around 5am and the lights had come back on, thank goodness. So, Tuesday was back to normal, the power was back and the cell service was working. I went to my first class, and for some reason the projector wasn't working, so my teacher took us to go get churros y chocolate and we played BS with some cards. It was super fun. After churros, I went to my art class and then back home for lunch and siesta. That afternoon, I went for a nice walk and ofc, I had to get some ice cream. I tried a new place near my apartment and I got limon serbert, which I think is my new favorite. Later that night I met up with my friends and we got ice cream again, oops, and sat in front of the cathedral for awhile. The next day was epic, I went to Tenerife. I met up with Tyler, Rudy, Alex, Lucas and Jonathan and we hopped on our flight to Tenerife. Tenerfie is a part of the Canary Islands which are Spanish islands off the coast of Africa. We landed, picked up the rental car and then headed off to the Airbnb where we met up with Aidan and Anna. The Airbnb was super pretty and near a little rock beach where we went to watch the sunset. That night for dinner we made pizzas and played card games and just chilled. Cobb and Abby got to the Airbnb around 11:30 and we all called it a night and went to bed. The next day we woke up, made some breakfast and then hit the road. We drove to a beach called Playa de las Americas where we hung out for most of the day. It was super windy but very beautiful and the water felt great. After a few hours on the beach, we went to a restaurant for drinks and snacks, I got canarian potatoes which are just boiled potatoes covered in salt and then you dip them in this really good chili sauce. It was amazing. We walked around for awhile after snacks, met up with some of the guys that were playing golf and then after all grabbing ice cream, we headed to a new location. We went to a cool beach closer to the Airbnb and it was super pretty. We hungout there, playing volleyball and soccer until the sunset and then we headed back to the Airbnb. That night for dinner, Tyler and I made pasta and red sauce and it was delicious. After dinner we all hungout in the living room and played more card games until it was time to go to bed. The next morning, we woke up and had some breakfast and then Abby and I made everyone sandwiches for lunch. From there we drove way up to the top of the mountain, stopping at lots of pretty lookouts along the way. The drive was beautiful, all through the national park, and we gained like 8,000 feet of elevation. After about an hour and a half we landed at a cool trail Cobb found for us to do. We walked for awhile, then stopped to have our yummy sandwiches for lunch. After sitting and talking for awhile, we continued walking through the forest and the lava rocks and the trail. At some point, we started to get way off track and we were walking in the middle of these black sand dunes. The options were walk over the giant dunes to the parking lot, walk across a field of lava rocks to get to the trail or retrace our steps until we found the trail, so after some deliberating we decided to walk back and find the trail again. From there we stuck to the trail and didn't get lost again. After the hike we drove to a really pretty town in the southern part of the island, but the road to get there was super super thin and very windy. But its ok, and it was so worth it for the view. While in the town I had some more canarian potatoes and we walked down to a lookout. From that town, we drove back up the scary rode and then all the way back to the Airbnb where we had more pasta and pizza for dinner. The next day, we woke up and then headed to the same beach we were at for the sunset on the first day. We swam and tanned and laughed and read and it was awesome. Then I dropped off Tyler, Cobb and Lucas at a golf course for the afternoon. When I got back, we swam some more, the boys did a hike to a lookout and then we went gokarting. I just watched from the balcony but it looked super awesome and they had a lot of fun. After gokarting I went back to pick up the golfers and then we went back to the Airbnb for dinner where we had the last of the pizza and pasta, played more card games and then went to bed. On Sunday, we had to wake up super early to get to our flight which was at 8:40am. We flew back to Malaga, bused back to Granada and then I took a nap for awhile. That evening I went on a walk, talked to some friends on the phone and watched the sunset at the lookouts in the Albaicín, a great way to end a great week. Overall this week was super awesome and way super fun and I had the best time ever with my friends in Tenerife. Miss you guys!
